Transport Mode Detection
Transport Mode Detection – Planned Feature in TimeTrack Pro
Automatically detect walking, cycling, driving, train, or flying from timeline velocity/activity data — categorize trips for better analysis — offline only.
1. How Detection Works
- Velocity thresholds: Walking <5 km/h, cycling 10–25, driving >30
- Activity tags: Use exported "in vehicle", "on bicycle" etc.
- Point patterns: Steady speed = train, stops = bus
- Altitude change: Flying if rapid rise
2. Planned Usage
- Import file
- Go to Stats → Transport Modes
- Select range
- App analyzes → shows breakdown (e.g. 40% driving, 30% walking)
- Tap mode → see filtered trips + copy times
- Export stats
3. Accuracy Notes
- High with tags: Android 12+ better inference
- Limitations: Bus vs car ambiguity
- Manual override: Tag trips yourself
4. Use Cases
- Fitness: Cycling/walking totals
- Mileage: Driving km for tax
- Green living: Public transport percentage
- Commute: Bus vs car comparison
5. Privacy
- Local analysis — no upload
- Encryption for stats
6. Manual Now
- Look for velocity/activity in entries
- Copy and categorize manually
